Locations

All of the University of Reading's student accommodation is located either on the main Whiteknights campus or close by. It provides you with a safe and secure place to live while you study. 

We offer a wide variety of different room types across our halls. We also have a limited number of self-contained flats which are suitable for couples, families and mature students.

Halls of residence

Rooms in our halls of residence are ideal for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Some are grouped into flat-style arrangements with shared kitchen and dining areas, while others offer a more traditional halls experience with some or all meals included in the price.

Flats and self-contained rooms

The University's accommodation for more mature students, couples and families includes self-contained flats. We also have a small number of purpose-built studios in some halls, which are best suited to students who prefer their own private bathroom and kitchen.

Meal plans

The University recommends all first-year students select a Meal Plan with your Accommodation choice to support your transition to life at university and help you reach your full potential academically. 

We offer a choice of 3, 7, 14 or unlimited number of Meals per week across 5 large dining sites to all students regardless of where you live.

Accommodation Guarantee


Prospective students are guaranteed a place in halls if they are:

  • A new full-time undergraduate who holds Reading as a Firm UCAS choice and applies for accommodation by 1 August** and satisfies any conditions of their academic offer by 3 September 2025.
  • A new full-time postgraduate who has accepted an offer from the University and applies for accommodation by 1 August** and satisfies any conditions of their academic offer by 3 September 2025.
