Meal plans

The University recommends all first-year students select a Meal Plan with your Accommodation choice to support your transition to life at university and help you reach your full potential academically. 

We offer a choice of 3, 7, 14 or unlimited number of Meals per week across 5 large dining sites to all students regardless of where you live.

Students with specific requirements

Single-sex accommodation

Single-sex areas are available at Bridges Hall, depending on availability. Please contact us to check as these rooms are not guaranteed. Single-sex university accommodation means sharing a flat (not a room) with other students of the same sex.

Please be aware in either male or female single-sex accommodation, guests (including overnight guests) may be of a different sex. Visiting staff members (cleaners, maintenance staff etc.) may also be of a different sex.

Accessibility

Bridges Hall has lift access to all floors, except in the townhouses which do not have lifts.

We work closely with the University of Reading's Disability Advisory Service to support students who require adaptations or accessible rooms. Find out more on the accessible accommodation page.

Accommodation Guarantee

Prospective students are guaranteed a place in halls if they are:

  • A new full-time undergraduate who holds Reading as a Firm UCAS choice and applies for accommodation by 1 August** and satisfies any conditions of their academic offer by 3 September 2025.
  • A new full-time postgraduate who has accepted an offer from the University and applies for accommodation by 1 August** and satisfies any conditions of their academic offer by 3 September 2025.
