We understand that your plans may have changed, and you have recently applied to the University of Reading. To support you in this choice and enable you to successfully start your student experience, we have reserved rooms in University accommodation for students coming to Reading via Clearing. How to apply for Clearing accommodation
After you have accepted your offer to join the University of Reading through Clearing and we have verified your results, we'll email you with further information about how to apply for accommodation. In the meantime, you can visit our Accommodation Clearing webpages for more information.
All applications for accommodation are made online via the RISIS portal, and all accommodation is allocated on a first come, first served basis. Your accommodation will be within one of our University halls or a hall managed by one of our chosen partners. All accommodation is no more than 15-minutes' walk from our main Whiteknights campus.
If you apply through Early Clearing (from 2 July to 5 August 2026)
Please make your application using the New Undergraduate pathway. For all the information on the application process, our dedicated How to Apply webpage includes a 10 step application guide, as well as videos about how to make an application and how to accept your offer. Your application will fall under the regular Accommodation Guarantee that is applied throughout the year.
If you apply through Clearing (from 13 August 2026)
Please make your application using the New Undergraduate pathway and then select the "Clearing" option. Our video "How to apply for accommodation in Clearing" will walk you through the application process. We are able to guarantee single-occupancy accommodation to students who apply via Clearing at the University of Reading, provided you meet the following criteria:
- you have accepted your academic offer by the deadline provided in your offer letter
- you have applied for accommodation at the University of Reading by 17:00 on Wednesday 19 August 2026
- the programme you have applied for at the University of Reading is a full-time undergraduate programme beginning in September 2026
- you accept your accommodation contract within 48 hours of receiving your accommodation offer.
What accommodation options we have available will depend on when you apply. If you apply for accommodation and all rooms are booked, we will place you on a waiting list as a small number of rooms are likely to become available after 3 September. We will be in contact to update you on your application.

Why live in University accommodation?
Your accommodation will be within one of our University halls or a hall managed by one of our chosen partners. All accommodation is no more than 15-minutes' walk from our main Whiteknights campus and it’s safe and secure, with a 24-hour staffed CCTV control room and regular security patrols.
University halls accommodation has all-inclusive rent, meaning there are no hidden costs.

Planned building works
Childs Hall has been undergoing planned building enhancement works during the academic year 2025/26. This may extend into the academic year 2026/27. Should this be the case and your room booking is affected, compensation will be applied to rooms impacted at a rate of 5% or 10% where relevant.
