Campus tours

Other ways to visit the University

Campus tours

Our campus tours are an excellent opportunity to see our beautiful Whiteknights campus, get a feel for student life, and learn more about the University of Reading. These tours will be led by one of our student ambassadors. Although these tours are not course-specific our ambassadors will be more than happy to answer any questions about student life and share their experiences.

The tours will be around 60 to 75 minutes. Please dress for the weather as it will be mostly outdoors and wear comfortable shoes as it will involve a lot of walking as you explore our 130-hectare campus.

If you’re interested in studying Education or Architecture, our London Road campus, home of the institute of Education and School of Architecture, is only a short distance away and worth a visit after your tour of Whiteknights.

Book your place

Please note that this is not an Open Day. Visit our Open Day webpage for more information.

Subject Meet and Chat

On selected dates during the academic year, we are able to offer an opportunity to meet academics from some subject areas after your campus tour. This is your chance to find out more about your course of interest. Due to timetabling restrictions and teaching responsibilities not all subject areas can offer subject meet and chats.

Subject  Date and time
Art  1 May at 12:00
Henley Business School*  8 May at 11:30 or 12:00

* The following degree subjects are taught at the Henley Business School: Accounting, Business and Management, Finance, and Real Estate.

Frequently asked questions

Will I meet academics or visit departments?

Campus tours are general tours of the University; they will not include visits to departments or meetings with academics unless you have booked a tour that includes a subject meet and chat. If you would like to speak to an academic, please contact them directly to arrange a meeting.

Will I be able to visit accommodation and see a sample of a room?

Due to all are rooms having a student in residence, we are unable to show you a sample of a University accommodation. Please visit our accommodation webpage to learn more about the different types of rooms we offer.

Will there be other people in my tour group?

There may be other prospective students and their supporters in your group. The group will be no larger than 15 people.

What time should I arrive for the campus tour?

We recommend arriving on campus 15 minutes before the stated start time to allow yourself to walk from the car park or bus stop to the meeting point.

Where should I park?

The car parking for this event is car park 1A which is on the left after entering the University’s main entrance in Shinfield Road. This is a pay and display car park. However, there is a parking permit attached to the confirmation email that you can print.

Will the tours be accessible?

Whiteknights is a large campus set in parkland with a lake. Although mostly level, with gentle slopes there can be a considerable distance between buildings. The tour will include a lot of walking across our 130-hectare campus. If you have any concerns, please email us at student.recruitment@reading.ac.uk.
