Taster Day cancellation
Unfortunately, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming Taster Day due to the extreme heatwave we are currently experiencing.
The safety and well-being of our visitors, students, and staff is our absolute priority. With red weather warnings and severe disruptions affecting rail and road networks, we want to ensure no one is forced to travel or commute in these dangerous temperatures.
We are incredibly sorry for the disappointment and any disruption to your plans. We were so looking forward to introducing you to our vibrant community, but we are already exploring options for rescheduling.
In the meantime
Here is how you can still connect with us and explore both areas of the department while staying safe and cool:
- Rescheduled & Future Events: We will be in touch as soon as a new date is confirmed. You can also keep track of upcoming events on the University of Reading Open Days and Events page.
- Virtual Events & Online Tasters: Skip the commute entirely and explore university life from home! You can join our upcoming online subject talks, webinars, and interactive virtual sessions on our University of Reading Virtual Events hub.
- Explore our Courses: You can still browse our modules, research, and student stories by visiting the Department of English Literature website and the Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics website.
