It’s important that you check the date we need you to refer yourself by or you risk losing your place. Accepting your offer is done via your UCAS Hub account, which is why it’s important you set one up early if you haven’t got one already.
If you applied between 5 July and 7 August 2025
You won’t be able to accept your offer from us, or any university, between 18:00 on Monday 28 July and 09:00 on Tuesday 5 August because the UCAS Hub closes for the Scottish results embargo.
Once the Hub reopens on Tuesday 5 August you will have until 12:00 (noon) on Wednesday 6 August to accept any outstanding offers before we close for the A level embargo.
The earlier you can accept your offer the better, so that we can process you in time for you to get your accommodation email before 14 August. This allows you to apply for a room early.
If you applied on or after 14 August 2025
You cannot accept any offer until 13:00 on 14 August.
Offers from results day onwards expire at 12:00 (noon) the following working day. If you haven’t accepted your offer by then but you still want to come to the University of Reading, you’ll need to get in touch with us to see if we can re-issue your offer.
To accept your offer:
- Sign in to your UCAS Hub account. If you have not yet registered with UCAS you will need to do so.
- Your application status will say You are in Clearing or Clearing has started. If you have already received a firm place at another institution, you will need to decline it before your status changes.
- Go to Your choices and click Add Clearing choice. Enter the University of Reading institution code (R12) and your UCAS course code (which will be in the offer email we send you). If the course code doesn’t appear, select other and manually type in the course code.
It may be the case that the course you have an offer for has since closed. As long as you received your offer email while it was open you still have a place that you can accept but you need to refer yourself in a slightly different way.
Instead of choosing Add Clearing choice you should choose University/college supplied code. The next screen will ask you to enter the University name and the Clearing course – usually using a code that we have given you. - Your status will now show under Waiting for decisions with the status The university or college is currently considering your application (Referred). The Referred status confirms you want to take your place with us and you’ve done everything you need to do for now.
- Your Referred status will likely remain for a few days while we verify your results. It will then update to Unconditional if we have everything we need. If your final results are not sent to us by UCAS, we will need to see official results transcripts. If we need any further information in order to confirm your place, we will contact you to request it.
- Once your status is Unconditional you will receive an email to apply for accommodation. This can take up to a week.
