Physician Associate
Our Physician Associate programme has been developed in partnership with the Royal Berkshire Hospital and Berkshire Healthcare Trust. It is taught by practising healthcare professionals alongside academics, offering you an insight into current practice.
Your training will consist of intensive evidence-based academic work and hands-on workplace experience. You will have considerable interaction with patients from early on in your studies.
The degree is designed to meet the requirements of the Department of Health’s Competence and Curriculum Framework for the Physician Associate. This has been designed to maximise the sustainability and transferability of the role across the NHS.
Leng Review into the physician associate profession
Following on from the Leng Review, we are expecting to change the name of our MPAS Physician Associate/MSc Physician Associate programme. We will also be reviewing the information listed here on career outcomes.
Before making any changes, the University is awaiting guidance from the General Medical Council (our accrediting body) and the government on the recommendations they wish to take forward. If any key changes are made to the programme, they will be set out on these webpages. All affected current and prospective students who have received an offer will be informed.
