Applications open

Applications are open for new undergraduates and postgraduates. You can apply with either an unconditional or conditional academic offer so long as you have accepted Reading as your firm choice / accepted your academic offer.

Add accommodationonline@reading.ac.uk to your safe sender list to ensure you receive our emails.

Early February 2025

Unconditional and conditional academic offer holders

We will start to allocate accommodation to applicants with unconditional and conditional academic offers. Normally you will receive an update from us within 15 working days of making your accommodation application.

We will contact you via email with details of your allocated accommodation. Please note that we cannot guarantee you your first choice of accommodation.

From mid-February Unconditional academic offer holders

Once you have an unconditional academic offer, we will contact you via email with your offer of accommodation. You will have five days to accept your offer of accommodation. To accept your offer, you will need to pay a £250 deposit.
From mid-June 2025

Pre-sessional student academic offer holders

Students arriving in Reading to study English ahead of starting their substantive course in September can apply for 'early start' accommodation. Normally you will receive an update from us within 10 days of making your accommodation application.

We will contact you via email with details of your allocated accommodation. Please note that we cannot guarantee you will be allocated your first choice of accommodation.

1 August 2025

Terms of academic offer: 3 September 2025

Accommodation Guarantee deadline: the deadline to apply for accommodation under the guarantee is midnight on 1 August. You must then fulfil the terms of your academic offer by 3 September 2025 in order to receive a guaranteed place in halls. 

14 August 2025

Applications open for those coming to Reading through Clearing

You can apply once you have met the conditions of your academic offer.

We will contact you by email to make an offer and confirm your allocated accommodation. You must add accommodation@reading.ac.uk to your email's trusted senders list to ensure you receive this email.

You will have two days to accept your offer of accommodation. Please note that to accept your offer, you will need to pay a £250 deposit.

14 August 2025  

Insurance students and those that have not yet applied

Applications open for those coming to Reading through Insurance or others who have not yet made an accommodation application.

29 August 2025

E-induction and booking your arrival slot

The compulsory e-induction will be available from late August 2025. You will receive an email inviting you to complete this. Once you have completed your e-induction you will be able to book your arrival slot.
By 3 September 2025

Room numbers

Provisional room numbers will be made available on the portal – we will email when yours is available. Please be aware, this is subject to change before your arrival.
13 September 2025

‘Early start’ contract arrivals

Early Start contract and any international students with an earlier course start date will arrive into halls.

19/20/21 September 2025

Main halls arrivals days

You will be allocated a specific arrival day dependent on which hall you are moving into.

Accommodation Guarantee


Prospective students are guaranteed a place in halls if they are:

  • A new full-time undergraduate who holds Reading as a Firm UCAS choice and applies for accommodation by 1 August** and satisfies any conditions of their academic offer by 3 September 2025.
  • A new full-time postgraduate who has accepted an offer from the University and applies for accommodation by 1 August** and satisfies any conditions of their academic offer by 3 September 2025.
