Undergraduate application information

You can apply online for all of our courses, including courses with an Integrated Foundation Year, via the national admissions service, UCAS. You can choose to apply for up to five courses in total, including more than one course at the same institution.

1. Find a course

Browse our undergraduate courses and identify which ones you'd like to apply for. Make sure to check your course's entry requirements before you apply. 

2. Begin your application

Register at UCAS and complete the application pages online, using the UCAS codes on our course pages. 

Our UCAS code is R12. The University does not have a campus code. 

3. Write your personal statement

As part of your application, you'll be asked to submit a personal statement to support your application. This is your opportunity to tell us more about why you want to study the course and what interests, skills and experience you have that demonstrate your passion for the subject.

4. Submit your application

When you're happy with your application and have added the required information such as qualifications, personal statement and reference, you can submit your application. 

UCAS charges most students a small one‑off application fee.

Make sure to check the UCAS website for the most up-to-date application deadlines. If you have missed the January deadline, there is still the opportunity to apply (via UCAS), and we are happy to consider late applications until 30 June 2025 (all applications received after 30 June are entered into Clearing). Please be aware that some of our courses may be full after the January UCAS deadline, so we recommend early applications where possible.

The application process

Once UCAS receives your application, it is sent to our Admissions Office, who assess it and decide whether to offer you a place. Our Admissions Team will assess your application and decide whether we can offer you a place. Assessment varies from course to course; some, for example, may require an interview or portfolio submission. Look up your chosen course to see whether an additional assessment step is part of the process.

In general, we will use the information supplied in your application form, including personal statement, predicted/achieved grades, and the reference supplied by your school or college.

Receive a decision

You can track the progress of your application on UCAS Hub. We carefully consider every application, so don’t worry if you don’t hear back straight away. If your application is successful, you'll receive an offer from us. There are two types: conditional and unconditional. A conditional offer means your offer is subject to achieving your grades or providing further information. An unconditional offer means that you have already met the course requirements.

Attend an Offer Holder Day

Offer Holder Days normally include a tour of the campus and facilities, a visit to a hall of residence, and the chance to meet academic staff and current students.

Offer Holder Days usually take place between February and April in your year of entry.

Respond to your offer

Once you have heard from all the universities that you have applied to, you can decide which offer you want to accept. Most people choose two: a 'firm' (or first) choice, and an 'insurance' (or second) choice. If you meet the conditions of your offer, you'll automatically be accepted onto your firm choice course.

Gap year/deferred entry

We welcome deferred entry applications. You need to apply at the same time as if you were planning to go straight to university, but you should state in your UCAS application that you wish to be considered for deferred admission.
