Our BSc Real Estate with Foundation degree gives you an understanding of the breadth and depth of the property sector and allows you to make specialist choices later in the course.
This four-year programme includes a foundation year that leads directly into the three-year BSc Real Estate course.
Foundation Year
Our Foundation Year programmes are designed to set students up for success. They offer a broad, immersive learning experience and ease the transition to university life.
They also aim to:
-
prepare you to study your chosen subject at undergraduate level
-
embed core academic skills and build your confidence within authentic, subject-relevant contexts
-
spark engagement and curiosity through meaningful learning experiences and enquiry-led approaches
-
foster a sense of identity, connection and belonging in your chosen discipline, and across the wider University community.
BSc Real Estate
Once you have completed your foundation year, you’ll progress to our BSc Real Estate programme, which will support you to:
- build a strong understanding of the core subject areas of economics, finance, business management, planning, building, law and valuation
- apply your learning to complex real-world problems.
Shape your degree
All of our Real Estate and Planning degrees offer you the flexibility to transfer between courses, so your academic journey can evolve with your interests and goals.
Course transfers are available after first or second year for single-honours courses. You will also be able to transfer from a BSc to an MPlan and vice versa.
BSc Real Estate
After your foundation year, the first two years of this course are designed to introduce and develop core concepts and practical skills in Real Estate and Planning. Students on all Real Estate and Planning courses are enrolled on the same compulsory modules in the first and second years.
In your second year, you’ll be able to select one optional module.
In your third year, you’ll develop a deeper understanding in a specialist area, such as development and planning, investment or valuation. You can also tailor your degree by choosing from a range of elective modules including housing or rural options.
You will learn through a combination of:
- lectures
- seminars
- group work
- tutorials
- case studies
- industry presentations
- site visits and field trips
- online learning
- independent study.
