Biography
Shamshad is a Chartered Accountant with over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector and a specialist in M&A and transformation/restructuring. He is a strong believer in education as a force for social change and joined the Council in 2022.
Currently, Shamshad is serving as the Chief Transformation & Strategy Officer for Vanquis Banking Group, a FTSE 250 company, and a member of both the Group Executive Committee and the Vanquis Bank Executive Committee. Since he joined in February 2020, he has been leading the transformation exercise which included establishing and leading the team as well as planning and executing the changes required to implement the transformation.
Prior to joining Vanquis Banking Group, he spent 22 years at PwC, the largest audit and consulting firm in the world, and he was admitted to the partnership in 2008. He primarily focused on advising corporations and private equity investors on investments/restructuring in the financial services sector but his extensive work on public takeover bids exposed him to a broad range of industries.
Shamshad graduated from the University of Reading in 1994 with an MA in International Banking and Financial Services and was admitted to membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1997. He is married with 3 children and lives in London.
