Research & Innovation Directorate
The Research & Innovation Directorate is led by Director of Technical Services, Dr Karen Henderson.
It consists of five areas within the University.
Research Services
Research Services (RES) support academics and schools with:
- research and enterprise funding
- the development of research excellence
- enterprise opportunities within the University.
Doctoral & Researcher College
The Doctoral & Researcher College works in partnership with the University's schools and departments to provide doctoral students with the support they need to fulfil their potential as researchers.
Library Services
The University Library:
- provides information resources to support teaching, learning and research
- develops students’ academic and information literacy skills
- supports the management, communication and preservation of University research
- contributes to the wider world of scholarship by collaborating with other organisations.
University Museums & Special Collections Services
The University of Reading is home to a range of nationally and internationally significant museums and collections, including:
- Museum of English Rural Life
- Cole Museum of Zoology
- Ure Museum of Greek Archaeology
- Samuel Beckett Collection
- Lettering, Printing and Graphic Design Collections.

Technical Services
The Technical Services team provides teaching, research and outreach support in specialist areas such as:
- laboratories
- classrooms
- workshops
- controlled environments (for example, glasshouses)
- theatres
