Centenary 2026: share your memories
22 March 2024
We’ve been celebrating the start of the Centenary 2026 countdown all week, as we mark less than two years until the 100th anniversary of the University’s Royal Charter.
We have:
- launched the Centenary 2026 website
- opened a vote to decide on a new logo for our centenary year
- announced the Centenary Project Grant Scheme
- shared plans for a new Nature Park and a digitised archive
Now we want to hear from you.
The Centenary 2026 project is about creating a legacy for the next century, building on the foundation created by the staff, students, alumni and wider University community.
We want to celebrate this rich history by telling the many stories of the diverse people that make up the University of Reading community, and the ways in which their lives have been changed by living, studying or working here.
To start us off, we want your stories specifically about student media on campus, including University newspaper The Spark, and Raising and Giving (RAG), our official fundraising body. We want serious stories, funny or poignant memories, personal perspectives, and everything in between.
To share your stories about both student media and RAG, email marketing@rusu.co.uk.
For more about Centenary 2026 – and to vote for our Centenary 2026 logo – visit www.reading.ac.uk/centenary. It’s the last day to vote, and the poll closes at midnight today (Friday 22 March).
We’ll announce the winning logo next week.
