In its overview, the guide states: "Reading makes a serious pitch for students who take environmental considerations into account in their choice of university. It excels in this area on several fronts.
"...It has a global research reputation in meteorology and climate change and its environmental impact. It is shifting heavily to renewable energy on campus through a large-scale installation of solar panels and heat pumps, and - most novel of all - it has introduced 400 Global Sustainability Leaders Scholarships..."

Professor Elizabeth McCrum, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for education and the student experience, said: "It's great to see Reading confirmed as a top 50 UK university, with 11 of our subjects ranked in the top 10 nationally. That kind of consistency across such a broad range of subjects, from Business and Architecture through to Pharmacy and Linguistics, says a lot about the quality of teaching our students experience here.
"It's particularly pleasing to see our student experience scores improve on last year which reflects the ongoing work we do to support our students both inside and outside the classroom. Coming third in the country for Business Studies and for Architecture, Building and Planning, and fourth for Education, shows just how strong that teaching is across some of our largest subject areas."
