Young adults invited to join stem cell register on campus
26 October 2026
Young people across Reading are being encouraged to sign up to the Anthony Nolan stem cell register when the charity visits the University of Reading campus tomorrow (Tuesday, 27 October).
Anthony Nolan will host three registration and information stalls at the University, giving eligible young adults aged under 30 the chance to join the register and potentially help save the life of someone with blood cancer or a blood disorder.
The stalls will be located at the Library, Students’ Union and Palmer building. Students and visitors need only fill out a short medical form and swab the inside of their cheeks in order to sign up.
The visit is organised by Ellie Wiles, Reading Students’ Union President, as part of the Reading Gives Back project.
Ellie Wiles said: “Health and wellbeing is something I’m really passionate about, so being able to bring an opportunity like this to Reading is something that means a lot. It’s a simple way for us to give back to the wider community and potentially make a life-changing difference to someone we’ll probably never even meet.
"Every year, people with blood cancer and blood disorders rely on finding a matching stem cell donor. By joining the register, you could be that match for someone who desperately needs it."
Anthony Nolan is one of the UK's leading blood cancer charities and relies on volunteer donors to help patients in need of stem cell transplants. The campus event aims to raise awareness of the register and encourage more young adults to sign up.
