University of Reading appearing in news media including TV and radio

Monkeypox:

  • Dr Simon Clarke (Biological Sciences) is quoted by The Guardian, The Daily Mail, Yahoo!, The Daily Star, Urdu Point, News Chant, France 24, Ary News, Business Fast, The Citizen, News Colony, Phil Star Global, Money UDN, Manila Standard, and Breitbart on the strains and mortality rate of monkeypox.
  • Professor Ian Jones (Biological Sciences) is quoted by The Daily Mail, Express Digest, News Amed, Business Fast, and Business Mayor on the transmissibility of monkeypox. 

Natural History Museum collaboration: The Breeze Radio, Heart Radio Berkshire, The BBC, India Education Diary and Nestia report on the University's collaboration with the Natural History Museum to develop and global and sustainable base for natural sciences research at the Thames Valley Science Park. Professor Robert Van de Noort (Vice-Chancellor) also spoke to BBC Radio Berkshire about the partnership. Read our news story.

COVID-19: expert comment on the pandemic

  • Professor Ian Jones (Biological Sciences) is quoted by The Daily Mail, Express Digest, Business Fast, and What's New 2 Day on the current severity and transmissibility of new Covid variants.
  • The Mail Plus mentions the University's research on why Covid can affect the smell of different foods.

City status bid: Professor Steve Musson (Geography) is mentioned by The Independent (and in print) and Tech Register on the economic benefits of city status, after Milton Keynes beat Reading and other UK towns to be given city status for the Queen’s platinum jubilee. The University's support for the improvement of Reading's reputation is mentioned in a statement published by The Reading Chronicle on the town's failed attempt to gain city status.
