University of Reading appearing in news media including TV and radio

Queen's Birthday Honours: Professor Parveen Yaqoob (Deputy Vice-Chancellor) is mentioned by BBC Radio Berkshire, The Breeze Radio, The Times (in print), The Herald, i News, Medium, Chronicle Live, National World, The Reading Chronicle, Berkshire Live, Bracknell News, Slough Observer, Windsor Observer, Eastern Eye, Asian Times, and others for receiving an OBE in the Queen's birthday honorary list for her services to higher education.

#PlanetPartners: working with global partners to protect the environment 

  • Professor Ed Hawkins' (Meteorology) climate stripes are used in articles by the BBC and Yahoo! on COP26 climate goals, and he is quoted by EOS on his Rainfall Rescue project.
  • PhD researcher Jeff Da Costa (Environmental Science) is quoted by RTL Today on losing his job after criticising the Luxembourg's government over its handling of major floods last in July.
  • The Scotsman (and in print) cites University research on the number of pollinators in the UK and Europe.  
  • University Business reports on the University library's new eco-friendly installations.

Platinum Jubilee:

  • Professor Kate Williams (History) was interviewed by BBC World Service Radio and BBC Radio 4 on the reign of Queen Elizabeth and is quoted by Newsweek on comments made by the Head of the English Church about Prince Andrew.
  • Professor Rosa Freedman (Law) was interviewed by France 24 News, and again for a panel discussion, on the reputation of the Royal Family. 
  • Bucks Free Press publishes pictures from a party held at Henley Business School in celebration of the Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2012. 

COVID-19: expert comment on the pandemic

  • Dr Simon Clarke (Biological Sciences) spoke to BBC Radio 2 about the spread of Covid. 
  • Dr Jane Parker (Food) is quoted by Times Of India and Tek Deeps on parosmia. 
  • Dr Deepak Ravindran, head of the long Covid clinic at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, mentioned research into blood markers for the illness being carried out with the University on BBC Radio Berkshire.
