University of Reading appearing in news media including TV and radio

PM resignation/Penny Mordaunt leadership bid:

  • The Sun, The U.S. Sun, Mirror, ITV, The Sunday Times (in print), The Daily Mail (and in print), Mail+,  The Mirror, The Telegraph, Yahoo!, Grazia, Proto Thema, Today UK News, Express Digest, Hampshire Live, Daily Record, I Know All News, Public News Time, Hampshire Live and BBC Radio Berkshire report on the career of Conservative MP Penny Mordaunt as she campaigns to be the next Prime Minister, mentioning that she is a Reading graduate.

#PlanetPartners: working with global partners to protect the environment 

  • PhD researcher Chloe Brimicombe (Geography/Walker Institute) was interviewed by BBC News 24 on the best ways to cool down during a heatwave; and her article on this topic on The Conversation is referenced by The Times (and in print) and republished by Yahoo!, Global Advisors, and Big News Network.
  • Professor Hannah Cloke (Geography/Environmental Science) spoke to BBC Radio Berkshire and is quoted by The Independent on heat-related health risks; and is quoted by i News on how heatwaves are defined.
  • Archy Newsy introduces the Microsoft Climate Research Initiative which includes a project involving Professor Ted Shepherd (Meteorology) which looks at food security in Africa.
  • Dr Robert Jubb's (Politics & International Relations) collaborative article on The Conversation on the possible end of peaceful climate protest is reported on by Watts Up With That.

James Joyce Collection: The Telegraph (and in print), The Daily Mail (in print), and Yahoo! report on the collection of materials belonging to James Joyce recently-bequeathed to the University and the insight they offer into the writer’s life, quoting Guy Baxter (Head of Archive Services) and Professor Steven Matthews (English Literature).

COVID-19: expert comment on the pandemic

  • Dr Simon Clarke (Biological Sciences) spoke to LBC News, BBC Radio 5, BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio Foyle, and BBC Radio Berkshire about the UK's rise in Covid-19 cases. 

#UniForReading: reaffirming our role as a civic university

  • BBC Radio Berkshire spoke to a local reporter about additional rubbish collections the University has arranged for when students move out of their rented accommodation in the town for the summer.
  • The Whitley Community Development Association shares the news that Trisha Bennett has been awarded an honorary degree at a University Graduation ceremony for her work alongside Reading researchers on engaging local communities. Read our news story.
