University of Reading appearing in news media including TV and radio

#PlanetPartners: working with global partners to protect the environment 

  • Professor Hannah Cloke (Geography/Meteorology) is quoted by The Times (and in print), Independent, Daily Mail, Mirror, Express, LBC News, Yahoo!, Mogaz News, News Colony, MSN, I Know All News, Pedfire, News Cabal, and others on the health risks associated with heatwaves; The Times on necessary collective action to cut water waste during the drought; i News on the changing definition of UK heatwaves, and J News on low water levels in rivers. 
  • Dr Rob Thompson (Meteorology) was interviewed by France 24 News on the damaging effects of the current drought and heatwaves; Banoyi reposted. BBC Radio Essex and Yahoo! report his online video showing how droughts impact surface water run-off.
  • PhD researcher Maureen Wanzala (Geography / Environmental Science) was interviewed by Sky News and BBC Radio Berkshire on the impact of hosepipe bans.
  • PhD student Chloe Brimicombe (Geography/Walker Institute) was interviewed by BBC Radio Berkshire about the impact of the heatwave on people's health, crop yields, and the severity of the drought, and again by BBC Radio Berkshire on how she became a meteorologist. 
  • Professor Ed Hawkins (Meteorology) is quoted by The Breeze Radio on the importance of discussing climate change.
  • Doctoral Researcher, Siobhan Dolan was interviewed by BBC Radio Oxford on improving UK infrastructure to avoid water leaks.
  • Professor Richard Allan (Meteorology) is quoted by J News on climate change's impact on the frequency of droughts. 
  • Resilience reports on Dr Stephen Burt's (Meteorology) research on UK tropical nights that come alongside heatwaves.
  • Professor Paul Williams (Meteorology) is quoted by Time News on the impact of climate change on flight turbulence.
