Shaming Putin's allies in information war key to success

Dr Maxime Lepoutre, Lecturer in Political Theory at the University of Reading and is an expert in disinformation in politics. He shared his expertise about on the importance of the information war in halting the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

Dr Lepoutre said:

"The key to ending the Ukrainian crisis is winning the information war. With Putin showing no intention of relenting, there will be no end to the conflict so long as he retains support. Controlling the narrative is the way to stop that.

"By publicising the war’s unjust cause and methods, the West can shame Putin’s remaining allies into abandoning him. But perhaps more important still is disrupting the narrative within Russia: countering Putin’s state propaganda is needed, more than ever, to turn the tide of public opinion against him and the war of aggression he is waging."
