Annual Information Security and Data Protection training
25 April 2022
Dear Colleagues,
Further to the Staff Portal communication on Wednesday 30March 2022, staff that were due to complete the new annual refresher course have now been sent email alerts from the UoRLearn Learning Management System (LMS).
Unfortunately, the email alerts generated were not ideal, and had some qualities that make the message itself look suspicious.
This course contains content that aims to help users identify a malicious email, so the irony of this is not lost on us. We are working on some changes for future alerts to improve this.
If you have received this email, which comes from uorlearn@lms.reading.ac.uk, please be assured that this is a genuine communication from the University.
Some technical workarounds had to be applied in the LMS, in order to set this as a reoccurring annual reminder. The message you will have received refers to an expiring certification. This means it has been more then a year since you took the initial Data Protection and Information Security modules, and the new annual refresher course is now due.
The ‘Click here’ link within the email will take you to the new course in UoRLearn, where you can enrol and complete the module.
If you have not received this email yet, there is no action required until you do. Please do check your inbox and deleted items in the event this was taken to be spam.
Apologies for any confusion or concern caused and thanks in advance.
