MPlan Real Estate Development and Planning is a planning course with a difference, giving you an edge over others working in the property market.
Through this programme, you’ll:

Accredited degree
This four-year MPlan programme has full accreditation from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). This means that it is recognised by employers as a benchmark of quality and can give you a head start if you choose to undertake the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence.
The fourth year is also expected to be accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), meaning you’ll be able to follow the fast-track pathway to becoming a Chartered Town Planner. Accreditation by the RTPI is currently pending and is expected to be confirmed by the end of 2025.
Reading Real Estate Foundation
The Reading Real Estate Foundation (RREF) is a unique and forward-thinking educational charity, established to support Real Estate & Planning education at Henley Business School, University of Reading. RREF will support you to achieve your full potential and become the best in the industry.

The first two years of this course are designed to introduce and develop core concepts and practical skills in Real Estate and Planning. Students on all Real Estate and Planning courses are enrolled on the same compulsory modules in the first and second years. In your second year, you’ll be able to select one optional module.
In the third year, you’ll specialise in development and planning but will also have the flexibility to customise your learning through selecting two optional modules.
Your fourth year will deepen your knowledge further and incorporates a Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)-accredited postgraduate qualification. Compulsory modules will focus on planning policy, theory, governance, planning law, negotiation and ethics.
As an MPlan student, you’ll join MSc Spatial Planning and Development students on a European field trip as part of the final-year Independent Study in Planning and Development module.
You’ll also be able to select two optional modules specific to your interests. These include modules offered by the School of Geography and Environmental Science, the School of Agriculture, Policy and Development, and the Department of Real Estate and Planning.
