Employers today want more than just a degree – they’re looking for skills, experience, and initiative. The RED Awards, the University of Reading’s Official Skills Awards, help you develop these qualities and stand out in an increasingly competitive job market.
Open to all University of Reading students, the RED Awards can be completed during any year of your studies.

If you are new to the award but have already completed some of our Eligible Activities, you can backdate anything you have done since you started at the university!  

Join our LinkedIn group to be aware of new opportunities as they come out throughout the year. 

What are the RED Awards? 

There are three core awards: 

RED Professional Development Award - Gain recognition for your extra-curricular activities and boost your employability. 

RED Global Engagement Award - Develop awareness of global issues, cultures, and diverse perspectives. 

RED Sustainable Action Award - Explore sustainability challenges, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and take part in activities that promote a more sustainable world.

 

Students who complete all three RED Awards will receive the RED Outstanding Achievement Award, recognising their exceptional commitment.

 

How do I sign up?

Getting started is simple! Just follow these steps: 

  1. Log in to MyJobsOnline 

  2. Select 'Search' tab and ‘Pathways’

  3. Select the RED pathway you wish to complete

  4. Select ‘Start’

Once registered, you can begin logging your activities right away.

Why do the RED Awards? 

  • Enhance your CV and career prospects 
  • Gain recognition for your extra-curricular achievements 
  • Build confidence and transferable skills valued by employers 
  • Receive a certificate that can be used on LinkedIn
  • Your completion will also be added to your diploma supplement annex and the graduation brochure 
  • Get invited to the RED Celebration Event that runs every semester
