Get up to speed
Make time to look at the new academic year structure and understand how things will be different when we move from terms to semesters. Consider how this will impact on your day-to-day work and the processes you are used to in your area. Discuss anything you are concerned about with your manager.
If you have a role that involves direct contact with students, ensure you’ve built your knowledge and are prepared to be able to answer student questions about the changes.
Notice how they will need to prepare for assessments when they return from the Christmas break and, if you’re involved in teaching or student support, be sure to get to grips with the ways in which programme modules have changed in different Schools.

Talk to people
With such a far-reaching project, the changes are going to affect almost every team in the University.
It will be useful to understand how that might change things for colleagues you work with outside of your own department. Don’t be afraid to have conversations about what they expect to be different from September 2024 and, in doing so, help prepare for the possibility of new ways of working.
