Get free squash training from an ex-pro
06 September 2024
Former international squash player Carla Khan will lead a trial session for women at the SportsPark this month.
The free session is on Sunday 22 September from 9:20-11:20. No booking is required, so you can just turn up and play.
The session is being run in line with England Squash’s campaign to encourage more women of all ages to play the sport.
Carla won five titles in her playing career and reached a world ranking of 21 in 2004. She was Pakistan’s number one squash player for several years.
Since retiring professionally, Carla has done TV presenting and coached around the world, focusing on supporting women and girls.
She now captains the Berkshire Squash women’s team.
SportsPark trial sessions
This women’s squash event is the latest of a number of sport sessions aimed at beginners being held by the SportsPark.
As well as special trial sessions, the new Knights Active programme allows staff and students of all abilities to play sport in a relaxed setting or to try something new.
There are options to get lessons as part of 6-week courses, pay-to-play sessions costing just £3 per time, and campus leagues and tournaments that offer the chance to compete against other staff and students.
The aim is to remove barriers to participation, helping more staff and students to get active to support their wellbeing.
See upcoming sessions on the Knights Active page on the SportsPark website.
