Free cuppa for Fairtrade Fortnight
12 September 2024
To celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight (9-24 September), the University is offering staff a free cup of Fairtrade tea or coffee.
Bring your reusable cup to the Library café or Dol.che Vita during opening hours on 18 September to claim your free cuppa and support farmers around the world.
The Co-op is also celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight by offering discounts for members across selected coffee/tea and confectionery lines plus 10% discount for members across all Fairtrade wines.
These offers will be available from 5-24 September 2024 in the branch on Whiteknights campus.
About Fairtrade Fortnight
Fairtrade Fortnight has moved to September for the first time this year, as the movement marks 30 years since Fairtrade products first hit shelves in the UK.
The campaign encourages consumers to Be the Change by choosing Fairtrade produce to help farmers and agricultural workers create a better future, and protect the future of British staples produced overseas.
Each time you choose Fairtrade when you shop, you are acting in solidarity with farmers who grow your food. Fairtrade means producers receive a fairer price, can afford to feed their families, send their children to school, and cover their farming costs.
Find out more on the Fairtrade campaign website.
All of our University catering outlets on campus offer Fairtrade teas and coffee for sale and for meetings.
The University of Reading is committed to supporting, promoting and improving understanding of Fairtrade to provide a positive impact. We were awarded a Two Star Higher Education Fairtrade Award in 2023.
