Edith Morley lift closure: teaching staff request
21 October 2024
28 October update: The Edith Morley lift is still unavailable, so please continue to record teaching sessions and support students who may need more time to get to classes. The repair is is expected to be complete on Thursday 31 October.
The lift next to the café in Edith Morley will be closed for repairs until around 21 October.
Although building users will be directed to the other lift in the Edith Morley tower, students with disabilities may be impacted as they may need more time to reach their teaching sessions – both in Edith Morley and other buildings they are moving on to.
As an inclusive university, we want to ensure no one on campus is disadvantaged in accessing buildings or activities.
All teaching colleagues are therefore asked to help support students in the following ways:
- If you are teaching classes in Edith Morley between now and 21 October, please notify your students if possible about the lift closure. Students are also being notified via the UoR Student app
- Please be sympathetic if students arrive late to your class as a result of the lift closure.
- Remember to record your teaching sessions using our YuJa technology, particularly if you are teaching in Edith Morley. Read more about lecture capture.
Student ambassadors will be in place to help open doors with no power assistance at the other entrance to Edith Morley until the lift is repaired.
We apologise for any inconvenience the lift closure causes to students or colleagues.
