Help improve our QS World University Rankings position
16 October 2024
Academic and research colleagues are invited to help with efforts to strengthen our position in the QS World University Rankings by nominating contacts to take part in the QS academic and employer reputation surveys.
Why your input is essential
The QS World University Rankings play a vital role in shaping the global reputation of universities. Maintaining and improving our position in these rankings is crucial for attracting both UK and international students.
Reading is currently ranked 172 in the world, but competition for a place in the Top 200 is increasingly tough. You can help us secure or even boost this position by nominating academic and employer contacts for the QS reputation survey.
This is the latest simple reputation-boosting action we are sharing over the next few weeks, which all of us can take and that can lead to benefits such as improved rankings and awards.
How the process works
A key factor in the QS Rankings is the university’s academic and employer reputation. Together, these two indicators make up 45% of the overall ranking.
QS asks universities to provide the names and contact details of academics and employers who consent to be contacted and participate in their surveys.
By submitting contact details of the respected academics and employers you work with closely, you can help ensure that Reading’s outstanding work is recognised on the global stage.
We can submit up to 400 names for each survey, and from experience we know that people who know our work well are more likely to respond in a positive way.
How you can help
Please help us build our database contacts who consent to take part in the QS Global Academic and Employer Surveys.
- To submit academic contacts:
Identify academics from other institutions who you believe may see Reading as a leader in your field. They do not need to be senior, but they must have an academic email address. Click here to access the nomination form. - To submit employer contacts:
If you know employers who recognize the quality of Reading graduates, please nominate them. Click here to access the nomination form.
The deadline for nominations is 28 October 2024.
What happens next?
Once you submit your contacts, they will receive a formal email from the University inviting them to register with QS and consent to participate in either the Academic Survey or the Employer Survey.
If you prefer, you can send this invitation directly to your contacts. In either case, the text will be the same and has been approved by QS.
We understand that your contacts are valuable, so the form gives you the option to indicate whether you would like the email to come from yourself or the Vice-Chancellor’s Office.
Importantly, contacts can only be invited to participate—they cannot be directly solicited for support.
