International student experience survey returns
05 November 2024
From Monday 11 November, the University will be taking part in a global survey of student experience, with international students asked to respond to questions about their experience of choosing, applying, arriving and studying here.
The International Student Barometer is the world’s largest international student experience survey of enrolled students and enables the University to benchmark itself against institutions worldwide.
All Reading-based international students will be invited by email to take part, incentivised by the chance of winning one of ten £50 Love2Shop e-gift cards.
Elizabeth Allen, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Internationalisation) and Head of the International Study and Language Institute, said: “This survey is a hugely important tool for the University, providing data that will help us successfully deliver the ambitions of the Internationalisation and Global Engagement Strategic Framework.
“We take part every two years and, in the past, it has given us incredibly useful insight into what makes students choose Reading and where improvements could be made. Data from the survey told us that international students were often missing out on Welcome activities, for example, and so we introduced enhanced Welcome and latecomers Welcome to better accommodate their needs.”
How you can support
If you work in a role where you have contact with international students, please encourage them to complete the online survey and share their views before the deadline of 16 December.
A range of promotion will take place between now and the deadline, including regular reminder emails, social media and face-to-face events.
Digital assets to help you promote the survey with students are also available, and you are encouraged to share these wherever possible.
