Take a tour of UoR history in staff talk Nov 2024 video
14 November 2024
Colleagues were taken on a journey through the past 100 years and more of the University’s history in our latest all-staff talk.
Vice-Chancellor Robert Van de Noort was joined for the session by Museums and Special Collections colleagues Guy Baxter, Associate Director of Archive Services, and Miriam Gibson, Project Archivist.
They shared photos and documents from our special collections, at a time when many of us are looking forward to March 2026 – the beginning of the University’s centenary year.
Many of the examples shared have been unearthed during the early stages of a centenary project seeking to digitise our archives, which are physically located in the MERL building at London Road campus, to make them more accessible to all.
Robert also provided a brief outline of our centenary celebration plans as they begin to take shape.
These include our Centenary Project Grant Scheme, which received around 70 applications before last Friday’s deadline, as well as celebrate and enhance our legacy.
There will also be forthcoming opportunities for colleagues, students, alumni and members of the community to share their memories of the University.
We will share updates on all these plans over the coming months.
