Sarah Marston appointed Head of School for IoE

Dr Sarah Marston has been appointed as Head of School for the Institute of Education (IoE).
Sarah has been Deputy Head of School for the past five months. She will continue in that role for the rest of the summer before taking on her new role from 1 August 2024 on a six-year term.
She takes over the role from Professor Carol Fuller, who has chosen to step down at the end of this academic year.
Sarah is currently Director of Teaching and Learning in IoE. She has also held leadership roles in secondary partnership schools and our secondary PGCE programme.
She was awarded a University Teaching Fellowship in 2021, and was part of the IoE team that won a University Collaborative Award for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning in 2023.
Vice-Chancellor Robert Van de Noort said: "We are pleased to appoint Sarah as Head of School for the institute of Education.
“Sarah has been a credit to the School in her Deputy role and I know she is held in high regard by colleagues. I look forward to continuing to working with her long term as part of the senior leadership team.
“I would also like to thank Carol for her outstanding leadership and huge contribution to the University during her time as Head of School. She has exemplified our community engagement values and made her mark both inside and outside the University.”
