Digital Strategy: all you need to know

Information about our Digital Strategy and the projects it is delivering can now be accessed on our website.
The Digital Strategy webpages provide an overview of the Strategy’s purpose and aims, as well as the latest progress with its many associated projects.
The Digital Strategy sets out a flexible roadmap for bringing our digital infrastructure up to date and introducing new technologies to improve staff and student experience on campus over the next decade.
The Strategy is being led by the Digital Directorate but was created with input from across the University, with its staff and students at the core.
It was approved in September 2022 by University Council and, since then, work has been focused on planning the delivery of the various projects, ensuring they are prioritised and resourced appropriately.
What is the Digital Strategy delivering?
The Digital Strategy supports the University Strategy principles – providing technology and infrastructure upgrades to allow our staff and students to adopt modern ways of studying of working, supporting our financial and environmental sustainability targets, and increasing our resilience against challenges such as cyber security.
A number of Strategy projects have already been completed, including lecture capture technology in classrooms, hybrid meeting rooms to support flexible working, a new laptop loan service for students, new technology to support Clearing and most recently the migration of RISIS to highly resilient and performing cloud infrastructure.
Other projects are underway or planned for future years, such as a refresh of our digital network and an upgrade to Blackboard Ultra.
