Learn about the fascinating research being carried out by Reading postgraduate students through pictures, poetry and stories at this year’s Doctoral Research Conference.
The conference will take place on Wednesday 12 June in the Palmer Building on Whiteknights campus. It is open to doctoral researchers and all colleagues, and showcases the diversity of doctoral research going on at Reading.
A packed 2024 programme features a talk on how doctoral students can engage the public with their research, creative visual displays and performances telling stories of life as a Reading researcher in alternative ways.
Highlights
- Guest speaker Professor Teresa Murjas, Academic Champion for Public Engagement with Research at Reading, will provide an overview of public engagement, why it is so important, how doctoral researchers can do it, and the support available.
- Our Research for a Better World finalists will present their work on global flood risk and supporting teachers with young children.
- The Three-Minute Thesis Competition will again feature bitesize overviews of current research projects, including on animal evolution and wearable technology.
- An exhibition of entries to the Research Poster, Research Image, Research in Life Pictures and Research Object competitions will be on display.
- Performances of poetry and bedtime stories, inspired by research at Reading.
- Research films from Reading PhD graduate Dr Matt Greenwell.
