Role changes in Student Experience and Education
19 July 2024
New directors for CQSD and Campus Commerce have been confirmed, following the departures of Matt White and Keith Swanson.
Role realignments have allowed us to fill some senior positions within the Student Experience and Education Directorate without needing to make like-for-like appointments, in line with our financial savings and efficiencies work.
CQSD
Anne-Marie Henderson, who is currently Director of Student Success and Engagement, will take over as Director of an expanded CQSD (Centre for Quality Support and Development) on 1 August 2024. She brings a wealth of experience in a wide range of teaching and learning activities.
Her role realignment allows us to realise a long-term aim of better integrating the work of CQSD with that of other teams in the Directorate.
The expanded CQSD will allow different teams that support teaching and learning and student engagement to work more closely together, including access and participation work already overseen by Anne-Marie.
The leadership changes within CQSD have also seen Richard Sandford become Head of the Quality Assurance and Policy team this month.
Campus Commerce
These appointments follow Martin Batt being named Director of Campus Commerce in May. He also brings a wide range of experience in our catering, dining and commercial activities.
The Head of Retail and Hospitality position Martin vacated has also been filled through a job realignment, with Matt Tebbit taking on the new and expanded role of Director of Dining Services this month.
These role changes further embed the Student Experience and Education directorate, as the transition year for the new Directorates structure approaches its conclusion.
The new structure will formally come into effect from 1 August, ready for the start of the 2024/25 academic year in September.
Heads of Directorate will continue to work together to identify other ways to help their teams better work together and deliver joint cost saving targets.
