Password reminder: when did you last change yours?
25 July 2024
Can you remember when you last changed your password? Do you think you changed it in the last two years?
To protect our computer systems and our information, the University requires that all passwords conform with our Password Policy.
The Policy requires that all colleagues use a strong password for their main University IT account – the one you use to log on to your computer, the Employee Self Service, and other platforms – and that they reset it at least every two years.
Get instructions for how to reset your password.
Reminders
DTS is about to embark on a drive to bring everyone with a University account in line with the password policy.
Anyone who hasn’t changed their password in the last two years will be contacted directly by email.
To avoid these emails looking like phishing, we are letting you know in advance that we are doing this.
Emails will have the subject line ‘It’s time to update your password’, will come from j.macfadyen@reading.ac.uk (Judith MacFadyen), and will be addressed to you personally.
Read the recent DTS blog on passwords for more information on choosing a strong password and the risks of not doing so.
