New School names confirmed after department moves
22 January 2024
New names have been confirmed for two Schools, after humanities subject departments were transferred into them.
The School of Literature and Languages is now called the School of Humanities. This follows the Departments of History and Classics being moved into the School.
The School of Politics, Economics and International Relations is now called the School of Philosophy, Politics and Economics (SPPE). This follows the addition of the Department of Philosophy to the school.
The new names came into effect at the start of January, with a transition period lasting to the end of this academic year.
The School and Department websites are currently being updated to reflect the department moves.
The changes followed consultation with the departments and Schools involved. The University Council approved the department moves in November.
The changes are structural only and have no impact on students.
