AI in higher education: Insights from this year’s T&L event
06 August 2024
Dr Martin Compton from King’s College London joined this year’s T&L Summer Event (11 July 2024) to give the keynote address.
He asked the audience to reflect on fundamental questions: What is the purpose of university education? How should we teach and assess in this new landscape? He argued that AI, particularly generative AI, pushes us to reconsider long-accepted norms of teaching and evaluation.
A recording of his talk, Leveraging Generative AI for a transformed teaching and assessment future, is now available on the CQSD website, alongside other resources from the conference.
Other sessions on the day included:
- Student perspectives on inclusive assessment and GenAI use
- Workshops on GenAI integration in assessments
- Discussions on inclusive teaching and assessment practices
A key takeaway from the day was the need to carefully consider our assessment methods, ensuring they're fit for purpose in the AI era and for our diverse student body.
