17 April 2024
Professor Parveen Yaqoob has been reappointed as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation).
Following a thorough recruitment process and interview, Parveen will commence her new six-year term in August 2024 in the senior leadership role she has held since 2018, initially as a job-share with Professor Dominik Zaum, who is now Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic Planning and Resource).
As Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Parveen is responsible for the University's research strategy, with the aim of positioning Reading among the leading research universities in the UK and internationally.
The role means she will also remain as a member of the University Executive Board, and as Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
Professor Robert Van de Noort, Vice-Chancellor, said: “I am delighted Parveen will continue in her Pro-Vice-Chancellor role.
“Over the last six years, she has provided exemplary strategic leadership of our research, making progress with our work to establish a positive research culture and improving the openness, integrity and impact of research in all areas.”
Parveen said: “Serving as PVC R&I has given me a deep understanding of how our research helps us to understand the world around us, improve lives and address global challenges.
“It’s humbling to see the impact of what we do and a privilege to be given the opportunity to continue to strengthen and champion research in this role.”
