Help boost responses to the Postgraduate student survey
15 April 2024
Taught postgraduate students have been telling us what they really think in the biggest UK-wide survey of their experience.
The Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) opened on 11 March 2024 and as of last week, the response rate stood at 2%.
The survey closes on 13 June 2024 and as the summer term begins, we’re asking colleagues to help us boost the response rate this year.
What can you do?
Teaching staff and other colleagues working with eligible postgraduate students can help promote the survey directly. A briefing pack for staff full of useful tips and assets is available to help.
Students can complete the survey by visiting reading.ac.uk/surveys. This page has guidance on how students log into the JISC platform, where the survey is hosted.
If you would like to be added to the PTES Teams channel, please contact Sophie Anderson, Internal Communications (Student Engagement) Officer, on s.c.anderson@reading.ac.uk.
Response rates at Reading
Over the last couple of years, PTES response rates have remained low in the sector. Reading sits in the bottom quarter for response rates across all participating institutions.
For the University to use this data more confidently, we need an increase in response rate. This survey is particularly useful for promoting programmes at open days, to benchmark our standing in the sector and to help us improve our programme offering.
