CallMy app text alert explained
24 April 2024
We can confirm that the text message sent to colleagues and students today (Wednesday 24 April) was sent by CallMy on behalf of our Security team.
Our Digital Technology Services (DTS) team has received some calls reporting the message as a possible scam. We thank everyone who has done this for their vigilance in keeping our campus secure, however we can confirm the message was legitimate.
The message asks anyone who has the app downloaded to check it is still enabled on their phone, as the app can become dormant if not used for a long period of time. The message was therefore to ensure it remains active on users’ phones.
Users will be made aware in advance of future tests.
