University community stands against sexual harassment
30 October 2023
Staff and students are being encouraged to take action, no matter how small, to help tackle sexual harassment in our community.
Colleagues can access support resources made available by the University on this issue, including:
- The new Report and Support online platform, which allows staff, students and visitors to report inappropriate behaviours, including sexual harassment, to the University to be recorded and investigated. Users can report anonymously if they wish. Find out more about Report and Support.
- Active Bystander training, which is recommended for all University colleagues and gives you skills to challenge inappropriate behaviours in different ways. Sign up on UoRLearn.
Enough
We are helping our community be part of the change on this important issue in support of the UK Home Office’s Enough campaign, which calls on everyone to take a stand against abuse against women and girls, and to step in if they see it happening.
Intervening doesn’t have to be dramatic or confrontational. Even small acts of recognition and support can help stop abuse.
The Enough website includes further advice on when and how to intervene if you witness abusive or harmful behaviour.
This message is also being promoted to students this November, who are being encouraged to complete online consent and active bystander training and sign a pledge to stand against sexual harassment.
By coming together and standing against abuse in all its forms, we can say ‘ENOUGH’.
Support
Colleagues affected by this issue can visit our Health and Wellbeing webpages for more information and support, including free and confidential support, day or night, through our Employee Assistance Programme.
