Local NHS partnerships to get funding boost
12 October 2023
The Health Innovation Partnership between the University and the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust (RBFT) has opened its next Collaboration Innovation Fund (CIF) call.
The funding call is open to all staff at the University and RBFT (including both clinical and non-clinical staff). CIF administered through HIP, is seeking new initiatives in either:
- Research
- Education
- Professional services (e.g. catering, sustainability, laboratories).
Applications must demonstrate an existing or potential collaboration between the University and the RBFT and include at least one collaborator from each institution. Applications from new teams and professions and those not holding funding from previous rounds are strongly encouraged. The deadline is 12:00 on Friday 17 November 2023.
HIP expect to see a legacy plan from this pump-priming fund, with projects evidencing a return on investment through means such as: larger-scale external funding, recruitment of new student cohorts, more sustainable working practices, improved patient outcomes.
The fund will support directly incurred costs (e.g. the cost of employing fixed term members of staff, consumables, small equipment) but not directly allocated costs (e.g. investigator time). There is a cap of £60k per application, over a maximum of 24 months.
Professor Orla Kennedy, Strategic Partnership Director (Health) at the University of Reading said: “Our collaborative funding has provided 51 projects and their investigators with the opportunity to build a relationship across both organisations, sharing new knowledge and access to new expertise.
“Through our collaboration, we are improving patient care and clinical excellence by developing new teaching and learning provision, professional services improvements and through research and its translation into clinical practice.”
