Sue Egleton to lead Library Services
23 November 2023
Congratulations to Sue Egleton, who has been appointed to the position of University Librarian, for a fixed term until 31 August 2025.
Her appointment follows the imminent departure of Stuart Hunt, Director of University Library & Collections Services, who leaves the University on 30 November to take up a new role at Durham University.
Sue’s role will focus on the strategic and operational oversight of the University’s libraries and will see her working alongside Kate Arnold-Forster, Director of Museums and the University Collections.
Adopting this approach, rather than directly replacing Stuart’s role at this time, will allow Dr Karen Henderson, newly appointed as Director of the Research and Innovation Directorate, time to assess future leadership and management requirements in this area.
Sue re-joined Reading in 2014, having worked at the University previously from 2000-2005. She is currently Associate Director (Systems & User Services) at the Library, and a key part of the Library’s senior management team.
Sue said: “The Library staff and facilities are an essential and vibrant part of our University community, playing a vital role in supporting teaching, learning and research both on and beyond campus so it is an honour to take on the role of University Librarian for the next 21 months.
“I look forward to working with colleagues internally and across the University to ensure we continue to deliver and develop our service as we embrace new structures and ways of working.”
