Round-the-clock support for students with new helpline
15 November 2023
Getting access to advice, support and guidance will now be possible for students whenever they need it and wherever they live, thanks to the newly introduced Student Assistance Programme.
Provision of on-campus support is now bolstered with this, the University’s first 24hr Student Support Helpline, in partnership with Health Assured. Designed to provide in-the-moment support to our students 365 days a year, the helpline can be anonymous and is completely confidential.
Staffed by professional counsellors who give impartial advice on a wide range of issues, the service is also free of charge to students.
The 24hr Student Support helpline has been added to our supporting student wellbeing guidance on the Staff Portal.
Director of Student Services, Paddy Woodman, said: “This service has been introduced to ensure every student can always access a listening ear and professional advice and guidance. It fills a gap that existed for those living off-campus and not able to benefit from our Hall Wardens and Mentors.
“It will also support our staff, who can use the service to make a joint phone call with a student they are concerned about – something that’s particularly relevant when you’re away from the campus with students or working with students in the evening or over the weekend or closure period.”
