Online option for Women's Health Café

A monthly Online Women’s Health Café launches on Wednesday 22 November, giving colleagues even more opportunities to connect and support each other over all aspects of women’s health.

Hosted on MS Teams, this community space builds on the success of the popular in-person Women’s Health Café events, while expanding access to more staff.

The relaxed, judgement-free café atmosphere, hosted by the Women@Reading Staff Network, fosters both open and confidential conversations about all aspects of women’s health.

The online space, as is the case with the campus café, is open to everyone: those who identify as women, and those who wish to develop their awareness of women’s health topics, and how they may impact women in the workplace, enabling the café community to be there for those who may be supporting a partner, family member, friend or work colleague.

Discussion topics are chosen by attendees and can cover physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions of health.

Sessions will be facilitated by Tonia Kazakopoulou (Lecturer, Department of Film, Theatre & Television), a member of the Women@Reading steering group. She said: "I'm thrilled to be facilitating the online Women's Health Cafés, together with other colleagues from the network’s steering group. This initiative helps build community while empowering attendees to openly discuss issues affecting women's wellbeing."

How to join

Attendees should mark their calendars for the upcoming hour-long MS Teams sessions from 12:30-13:30 on the following days:

Simply click the meeting link on the dates you wish to attend. Consider inviting a colleague or friend to join in, and bring your own hot drink.

In-person Health Cafés will continue to take place in the Library, with details available on the Staff Portal.
