Icy paths: Take care and report slips

With winter round the corner, colleagues are urged to take care when walking or driving on campus during icy weather, and to report any slips.

Main roads and footpaths through campus are gritted daily during freezing weather conditions, while minor routes are gritted on most of these days.

However, when temperatures drop much below 0°C ice is likely to form on paths and roads regardless.

If you slip on an icy path, please report this to Health & Safety Services via the Incident Notification Form as an ‘accident’.

Even if you are unscathed, reporting slips helps the Estates Campus Operations team to monitor potentially hazardous areas and take action if necessary.

Problems on campus that need addressing should be reported to the Estates Helpdesk.
