New Dean of Internationalisation and Head of ISLI role
20 November 2023
Applications are open for a new post of Dean of Internationalisation and Head of International Study and Language Institute (ISLI).
This replaces the current Head of ISLI post, held by Professor David Carter, who will soon complete his six-year term.
The post is being advertised internally only at this stage.
About the role
The new role has been created to help deliver the University’s internationalisation objectives, including ensuring ISLI plays a key role in growing international student numbers.
The postholder will also be responsible for providing ISLI’s academic leadership and resource and operational management, and engaging with external organisations and our overseas campuses.
As this is a new role, the successful applicant will be recruited on an initial two-year fixed term basis, commencing in the Spring Term from 1 January 2024. This shorter fixed term basis will be in place while the new Internationalisation and Global Engagement Strategic Plan is developed, after which there will be the possibility to extend the term to the full six years.
How to apply
More details, including the full job description and how to apply, are on our online Jobs Page.
The deadline for applications is Sunday 3 December 2023.
Shortlisting and interview arrangements
Shortlisting will take place on the week commencing 4 December 2023.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to be interviewed and deliver a short presentation on Wednesday 13 December 2023.
Presentations will take place in the morning, and will include a Q&A session. All ISLI members will be invited to these presentations, allowing them to hear the applicants’ ambitions for the Institute.
Interviews for the role will take place that afternoon.
If you would like to discuss the role on an informal basis, please email Caroline Baylon, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International).
