Climate education debate among Climate Festival events

The University of Reading is helping deliver this year’s Reading Climate Festival in partnership with Reading Climate Action Network, Reading’s Economic and Development Agency and Reading Borough Council.
Reading Climate Festival runs from 10-21 June, featuring live and online events to inspire action on climate change.
The University is leading on a number of high-profile events, offering the chance to:
- Debate how to support the next generation tackle climate change impacts at a panel event introduced by COP26 President Sir Alok Sharma MP.
- Get tips on how to save the planet from TV weather presenter Laura Tobin.
- Learn how to embed climate change into the school curriculum.
- Join millions of people around the world in showing your stripes for the planet.

Gaia exhibition |
The famous Earth artwork exhibition by artist Luke Jerram is coming to Reading. The seven-metre-wide depiction of Earth is made up of NASA satellite images and will be suspended inside the Concert Hall. Book tickets on the What’s On Reading website. |

Everyday Ways to Save Our Planet: In conversation with Laura Tobin |
Broadcast meteorologist and University of Reading alumna Laura Tobin discusses ways people can make small changes that add up to make a big difference to our planet, based on her experience of reducing her own family’s impact on the environment. The event will be hosted by Paul Lindley, Chancellor of the University of Reading, and will take place against the backdrop of the Gaia installation. Institute of Education Showcase Event |
School leaders and teachers considering climate and sustainability action plans can attend talks and exhibits by academics and students at the Institute of Education (IoE). The IoE will share good practice in embedding sustainable thinking into the curriculum and organisations, based on its own pioneering work and involvement in the Department for Education’s action plan on climate education.
