Learn something new at work this week
15 May 2023
Colleagues will be sharing their diverse range of talents to help others learn a new skill during Learning at Work Week (15-19 May).
The programme is part of the national initiative led by Campaign for Learning and allows colleagues to try something new in 30-minute or one-hour sessions, either online or in-person.
Sessions on offer through UoRLearn include:
- Language taster sessions from the Institution-Wide Language Programme (IWLP), including Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, British Sign Language and more.
- Knitting and crochet.
- Tap dancing.
- Mindful writing.
- Intercultural communication.
- Facilitating great virtual meetings.
- Improv skills.
- Mindfulness.
- Creating accessible documents and good accessible practice. These two sessions are connected with the Look Again campaign around digital accessibility running through May.
Colleagues should register online in advance.
Learn all year round
The UoRLearn platform run by People Development contains many opportunities to learn and hone professional skills that colleagues can browse and sign up for at any time.
These include online courses that can be completed in less than half an hour, on topics such as interview skills and managing your wellbeing, and more in-depth instructor-led programmes on topics such as improving research proposals or coaching techniques.
