Reducing graduate outcomes gap – speaker sessions
08 March 2023
A limited number of spaces are available on speaker sessions focused on ways to support students from under-represented groups at Reading.
For a number of years our Careers team has been taking action in this area, including through schemes and initiatives such as the Reading Internship Scheme, Thrive mentoring and the Finalist Programme.
The University is committed to reducing the careers progression gap between Black and Minority Ethnic and White students, and students from high levels of deprivation compared to those from lower levels.
As part of this, we have partnered with TG Consulting to give all students access to the award-winning online programme RE:ACTION 24/7.
A total of 275 students have registered for this innovative, six-week, online programme providing access to inspirational speakers, such as BBC sports presenter Alex Scott MBE and former Olympic cyclist Ed Clancy OBE, employers including British Airways and BDO, and specialist trainers.
The programme is designed to support the ambitions and aptitude of those looking to advance their career within or between social groups. It covers a wide range of key topics including stereotypes and role models, self-belief, confidence, overcoming adversity, positivity and mindset, resilience, adapting to change, building social capital, and networking.
Sessions and how to attend
Colleagues interested in taking one of the remaining spaces should email Alexandra Baker in the Careers team to arrange access.
